She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.

The Presbyterian Women
Of
Gum Creek Presbyterian Church
The organization consists of very dedicated women seeking to serve God and support the church through participation in projects within the church as well as through local and world missions.
In the early years of the organization, the group rolled bandages for the White Cross Mission program. This program was of special interest and importance to Geraldine Ellington who was always in charge of this outreach activity. The bandages were sent to the mission field here in the States as well as overseas. An example of the White Cross offering from 1971 was 120 rolled bandages, 5 dish towels, 2 pairs of blue jeans and 2 boxes of diapers. The ladies always strived to meet their assigned quota.
They also made contributions to the Blue Blessing Offering which had been set up by Presbytery to offer assistance to others in need.
From the beginning, this organization had a Bible study, sent cards and visited the sick, shut-in or bereaved. They placed flowers in the Sanctuary weekly. Monetary contributions and needed items were collected and sent to Thornwell Home for Children. This group sponsored family night dinners, remembrances to service men and women, medical boxes with numerous supplies as a foreign mission project, a birthday objective and attended district Presbyterian Women’s meetings. Beginning December 1964, the “Women of the Church” started sponsoring an annual Christmas program with the contributions going to the Joy Gift offering. This continues to be a highlight for the Presbyterian Women and the members of Gum Creek Church.
Additional projects were added to the list as the years passed. Such focuses were World Day of Prayer, sending cards to our high school and college graduates, Santa Express, collection of Christmas card fronts for the St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, donations to Relay for Life and VBS just to name a few.
The Presbyterian Women meet in the Fellowship Hall at 7 PM on the first Monday of each month. Each lady who is not currently attending is invited to come and join this wonderful group as they continue doing the Lord’s work and seek to fulfill His plans and purposes at Gum Creek Presbyterian Church.
